100% scam, you are correct.

You could post up the email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information.

Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don't bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn't worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.Has anyone received an email from yahoo awards committee stating they won the internet lottery?
Yahoo Answers is for help from members. You won't get an official reply from Yahoo here.

Lottery scams are very common, and like other Internet scams there's nothing anyone can do about it.

The scammer is working anonymously out of a West African Internet cafe. He can open free email accounts faster than they can be closed. Western Union payments can be collected anywhere n the world with no ID.

Educating people about scams, is the only answer.Has anyone received an email from yahoo awards committee stating they won the internet lottery?
There is no Yahoo lottery. It is a scammer pretending to represent Yahoo.

It is also not a good idea to post your email address. The technology that enables search engines to index these questions enables spambots to look for address@domain text and compile more spam lists.
What else can Yahoo do? They already put up an entire page warning about this scam to warn people

The only way this could stop is if Yahoo read every single mail coming into every user's Inbox. Do you really want to give up your privacy by having some Yahoo employee reading every one of your emails? Or would you rather just click Spam?
