Why do republicans try to suppress the democratic vote?

Every election this decade republicans have been performing voter caging of blacks, students, and democrat favored neighborhoods, under the claim that they are preventing voter fraud.

How it works is they send out mass mailing of junk mail via US postal service, not email, and any undelivered mail causes them to challenge someone. People they challenge will be less likely to be able to cast a ballot that will be counted, thus suppressing the vote.

However military stationed overseas, people on vacations, and students that go home for the summer are unlikely to be delivered to. These voters are legit, and will be less likely to vote if challenged.

Do you believe republicans should be allowed to do this? Why do republicans try to suppress the democratic vote?
My friend, the Republican Party has already be caught, found guilty and some got jail terms for voter fraud. Follow this link for the proof some here are asking for:

Hopefully, John McCain, who is supposed to be a moral man, will put a stop to the use of dirty tricks.

THUMBS DOWN NEVER CHANGES THE TRUTH.
This is crap! Why do republicans try to suppress the democratic vote?
Lol, this can't be a serious question, do you have any evidence of this, didn't think so. Shut up
I'd suggest you provide a link to the fact Republicans are behind this; as opposed to the Democrats in 2000 that filed law suits to prevent the military ballots from counting in Florida. Why do republicans try to suppress the democratic vote?
They want to win.

For those who don't believe it see source 192,000 hits on "Republican Voter suppression" in Google.

PS The naivete of people never ceases to amaze me.
not at all, whomever you decide to vote for.. you should be allowd to vote and i am appaled that some of them participate and this sort of thing...
Actually there is much more evidence that this is a tactic of the left. Along with registering names from gravestones to vote.
Hey genius did you know the Democrats do the same thing?
I do.

I think it should be done by anyone.

The only reason someone will not be able to vote is if the challenge is SUCCESSFUL!

These are false addresses, illegal immigrants, felons who hide their presence.

I don't answer my junk mail and I'm a democrat.

I welcome it. So should you.
Yet Democrats are notorious for voting from the grave.
The Republicans will not be allowed to stop the millions, upon millions who will be casting their ballots, on November 4, 2008.

I do believe, we are going to witness the biggest turnout in years. I for one can not wait. I plan on casting my ballot, before I go to work that day.

I want to be one of the first to be counted in that early morning count.

Obama Rocks. Obama/Biden in 08.
Why is it that unverifiable idiotic claims by democrats are made every 21 seconds?

Good question..
what are you talking about? how long did it take you to come up with this one?
How can you possibly complain about this issue - when the bill to require positive identification at the polls came up - the republicans (including John McCain) supported it, the democrats defeated it.

I honestly fail to see the concern here unless one feels that his voting base might possibly contain a significant number of, shall we say, "questionable" votes.
People on vacation GET their mail. So do students who go home for the summer. In fact, those students should choose where they are going to vote because they can't vote in both places though I'm sure some try to. Why do Democrats allow the dead to vote, and vote often? I suppose Republicans shouldn't try to stop that sort of thing but allow every Democrat who isn't registered and who's dead to vote. Get real! Further, a challenge to a voter doesn't mean the voter cannot vote. They can always go straight to a judge if they're turned down at the polling place and be allowed to vote if they're stopped. Why are Democrats afraid of doing that? Voter fraud, perhaps? Why do Democrats do that so much more than Republicans?

NO ONE is denied a vote unless the challenge is successful and, in that case, they should go to jail for voter fraud. Nice try, though.
How can you even start with this crap after your party disenfranchised Florida and Michigan!?!?
What are you talking about? Do you have proof? I think you were out in the sun too long today.
I don't believe it happens. Why is it that people are so gullible and paranoid?
Well if you can prove this, I would certainly agree that no one should be allowed to commit fraud of any kind. Prove is the key word here.
When you are a minority then you try to keep the other side from voting. It is as old as politics. Reminds me of the Jim Crow laws prior the Civil Rights act of 1964.
Well, if YOU say the Republicans are doing this, then it must be true!

And for a fleeting second there, I was actually tempted to ask you to cite a source of evidence for your claims.

Forgive me for momentarily doubting your greatness.

.
Is it legal?

'nuff said.

Look into how Obama got his state senate seat.

Talk about dirty politics.

"Obama was able, however, to successfully challenge enough signatures to disqualify not only the incumbent but the other three candidates for the Democratic nomination as well, which he won unopposed.[2][3]

Obama himself has said that the challenges were necessitated by what he called obvious flaws in the challengers' signature sheets. "To my mind, we were just abiding by the rules that had been set up," he said in a 2007 interview with the Chicago Tribune.[3]. When asked if voters were not disserviced by a ballot with no opposing candidates, Obama said "I think they ended up with a very good state senator."[3]%26gt;%26gt;

Challenging signatures is an Obama calling card.
This sounds like the Democratic way. Vote McCain Palin 2008 and make the right changes to America.
This is the dumbest thing Ive ever read on here. come on really?
Thats the best comedy routine I have seen here on Y!A in awhile ... thanks for the laugh .....
In 2000, Democrats in Florida demanded that votes from military personnel not be counted because they arrived late. They were mailed on time, but the APO didn't get them here on time.

Regular mail is not delivered to people. It is delivered to an address, unless a previous resident left forwarding instructions with the Post Office. Only First Class mail can be forwarded or returned to sender if a former resident of the address has moved.

How does the tactic you describe suppress the vote? If someone has moved, they will likely be in a different precinct or even a different state. Their designated polling place will have changed and they will need to reregister.

Don't believe everything some radical liberal tells you as long as it paints a dirty picture of Republicans? Some of them believe that a lie that is believed is better than the truth.
Try again.

On your comment about military stationed overseas, most serving and ex-military are REPUBLICANS.

People on vacations? You would have to have a regular job, in order to afford a vacation. That would make Republicans again more likely to be the majority of people in this category.

Students that go home in the summer, if they were responsible as voters or normal in general, would have arranged to have their mail forwarded to them.

So, suppressing the democratic vote? These conditions you described mostly describe how many REPUBLICAN voters don't get to vote.

Wasn't Idiot Barry the one who wanted to discount the votes of two whole states, during the democrap primaries?
Only way for them to win
They should also get rid of voter ID laws which negatively impact Democatic voter turnout. Not by much, but every vote is so important these days.
yes
Because there are more democrats than republicans.
