Hello,
As other yahoo users, i got a similar e-mail about an undelivered parcel from UPS which was stopped by the USPS. I know i shouldn't opened those type of e-mail, but in the last month i send a few packages in U.S. and when i saw the title i thought something happened with my package, so i had to read the e-mail.
Someone should do something against this people and other companies should not sell 'our' e-mail addresess to so many other companies, just to make advertising, making money with our personal e-mails.
Every week i'm receving hundreds of stupid e-mails, scams actually that i'm not even look at those, i'm just deleting absolutly everything, but is annoying getting all those scams.
PLEASE, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
This is the e-mail that i got:

i'm sending this e-mail to ups and usps companies, maybe they can stop this type of e-mails that are on their name and about them. How can i stop fraudulent emails?
UPS and USPS companies CANNOT do anything about this type of email. There are many similar scams out there -- one really popular one is emailing you pretending to be your bank/amazon/ebay/paypal, etc. For the same reason, your bank, ebay, amazon, paypal, etc can't do anything to stop the emails. They obviously aren't sending it, but they cannot prevent someone from pretending to be them.
Your best option is to just ignore the emails. Luckily, most email providers have decent spam filters, so most of the spam doesn't make it through.
Spam is an unfortunate reality, and there really isn't any one force out there that can stop it. We do get a few arrests here and there, but since the Internet is global, it takes just a few countries that don't enforce cyber laws for spammers to thrive. Similarly, innocent people whose computer gets hacked are often used to send spam to others. So a lot of the spam is actually coming from other innocent users whose accounts were hacked. (Go look up botnets for more details.)
Basically, there are major technical reasons why spam still exists. Let's just leave it to cyber security experts to deal with the spammers. Our best course of action is to ignore the spam. Since you're aware of the scams and stuff in the emails, you'll hopefully not be a victim to any of these spam emails. How can i stop fraudulent emails?
Being a web consultant (design, hosting, e-commerce, etc.) I have several email accounts for my own domain, as well as several other client email accounts that I monitor. As such, I receive between 200-300 spam messages daily.
My savior program is Firetrust's MailWasher Pro - I frankly would have a difficult time dealing with the amount of spam I typically get daily without it. It's fairly inexpensive (about 40 bucks) and it's tied to online spam databases that are continuously updated as spam is reported.
The program intercepts spam at the server level, tags known spam, suspected spam, and marks good any known good addresses you give it, or that it learns is good by your actions over time. With a few mouse clicks, it deletes and reports bad messages you receive to the main spam databases used by others around the globe - all before it ever reaches your inbox.
The problem that most people have is determining if a message is in fact spam, particularly when it's addressed from friends, family, or even yourself. MWP reads through the header information and determines whether it's spam or not based on a lot of factors; though I have to do a general check of tagged emails (I have several common domains like Yahoo, Gmail and AOL that are blacklisted) to see if any are in fact good, MWP rarely tags a good message bad unless your settings allow for it, like mine.
They just released a new version (2011) last month - you can check it out at http://www.firetrust.com/
