If Jesus spread the word of God in 3 years...?

...how did he manage it? For Christianity to really take off he must have travelled far and wide, plus there were no phones, email, cars or postal service. Most people would surely have laughed in his face and it would have got nowhere. As a committed atheist I find it hard to believe that this happened. If Jesus spread the word of God in 3 years...?
You could read in the Bible how He managed it.

But then as a Catholic you are not allowed to treat the Bible seriously are you? And now you are a faithful Atheist, nothing has changed.

Such a shame. Such foolishness.
Through faith. He knew some would believe and others would not. He spread the Word anyway. Look where it is today. If Jesus spread the word of God in 3 years...?
A lot of people did laugh in Jesus face - and spit in his face too - they said he was possessed with a demon, that he was blasphemous, that he was a law breaker, you only have to read the Gospels! His disciple Judas betrayed him, Peter denied him and Thomas doubted him. With regard to loyal followers there seemed to be but a few. And Jesus most certainly did not make it easy for people to follow Him either!

In fact if you read in the book of Acts it seems more people became believers AFTER his death than during his life time....and such is the case now....
Jesus brought the plan of salvation to the children of Israel and did not plan to do it all by Himself, this is why He instructed the Apostles to go into the whole world and preach the `Good News` and it should be remembered too that even the Apostles would not fully achieve this in their short lifetimes so there had to be a teaching authority(church) that would continue until the end of time, this church would be One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic in nature and no matter what transpired the forces of hell would never overcome it.If Jesus spread the word of God in 3 years...?
The NT makes it clear that there were not more than a few hundred believers at the time JC is reputed to have been preaching. Naturally, the numbers increased over the centuries, but it wasn't until about 400BC (when the church hierarchy gained political power) that the religion finally took off.

How come? Well the libraries were burnt, the intellectuals were murdered and all of the other religions were banned.

Oh yes, and then came Dark Ages, Crusades, and Inquisitions.
Keep in mind the bible says that Jesus is the Word of God in flesh. It wasn't as if He was handing out bibles, Jesus' wide spread ministry had started at the age of 30. But even before then, Jesus had been doing miracles, teaching and preaching the Word, i.e. amazing the temple teachers by what he was saying to them at the age of 12. It wasn't until He was 30 that His wide spread so to speak "Crusade" took place. By that time, most of the Jews were well aware of who Jesus was and what it was he did. Despite the fact that there was no tv or internet or radio etc, people are equivalent to all of those things back then. And when you take into account of all those who were constantly coming in and out of cities, and those who's actual Job it was to do that kind of media reporting work, 3 years doesn't seem like such a short time for Jesus to do all that the bible says He did.Remember also there were 12 disciples who also ministered to those whom they encountered in the cities Jesus was in.
Jesus(Pbuh) started his preaching from childhood. Whatever the Bible says it is false.
and why did he wait until he was 30. why not start at an early age. maybe he had aliens transport him around
Jesus was a Jew. He did not spread the message of Christianity. His disciples did after he the ascension as he commanded them to, and it has been spreading for over 2000 years now. As far as what he taught , some believe that in the years of his life not written of in the Bible, that he travelled far and wide with the "Word".
He did have apostles and disciples, to do his will.
Well all you have to do is look around to know that it most certainly did happen. Christianity has been a thriving religion and Church since Christ walked the Earth. He was able to do this by teaching the masses in His own country and gathering disciples to go to the ends of the Earth and proclaim His Gospel of good news (our redemption). The bible is the best selling book of all time and it can be found in most homes, hospitals and hotels. Think about it, a revolution so big it has circled the world through out the ages. There are tons of Christians all over the world. You know though, you are right only God could have made the whole world aware of His presence and of His teachings. Christ IS God in the flesh (yes I do believe this).
Actually, the point you are making is an argument FOR the credentials of Christ.

The fact that He DID attract such a huge following in such a short time without the aid of modern media, transportation or the printing press lends creedence to His countless miracles.

Obviously, He accomplished so much in such a short time because He was doing amazing things (raising the dead, curing the sick, feeding 5000) that had no logical or natural explanation except that He must be exactly who He said He was - the Son of God.

His miracles attested to His divine authority and so when He passed on this authority to His disciples, it gave them creedence as well, thereby enabling them to spread the Gospel to all the nations.

Peace be to you all+
Jesus didn't travel very far, and the first Christians weren't far apart but they were scattered in about AD 70, so the word spread. If you read the book of Acts, you will see how the scared disciples were totally transformed into preachers willing to die for the gospel on the day of pentecost, when they recieved the Holy Spirit. The whole book of Acts describes how Christianity spread and the first churches were founded.

Christians today still need the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit to help us spread God's word, the Bible tells us that apart from Jesus we can do nothing. If you never recieved the Holy Spirit when you believed, ask God for that gift today.
The Gospel writers indicate that Jesus taught in the area that maps of the time of Roman occupation known as Phoenicia, Iturea, Trachonitis, Galilee, Decapolis, Samaria, Perea, Judea, and Idumea.

Beside his own teaching efforts, Jesus sent his disciples out in two鈥檚 鈥?br>

Mark 6:7-10 KJV

7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:

9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.

10 And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.

The last command Jesus gave his disciples was

Mark 16:15-16

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

and

Acts 1:8

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

It was the disciples and Apostles of Jesus that spread the Christian Gospel 鈥?The good New about the Kingdom of God.

After his resurrection and ascension into heaven.
How can you call yourself a "lapsed Catholic" and then identify yourself as a "committed atheist?" Even a lapsed Catholic still has the Catholic faith, (s)he just never practices it; one might be called a material atheist but not a formal atheists as you identify yourself.

So, you need to change your name to "apostate Catholic" which is what one is who denies the Catholic faith whole and entire.

Given this situation what can I possibly say to convince you otherwise, that the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, founded by Jesus Christ, true God and true Man, outside of which there is absolutely no salvation. There are many Catholics who are just like you; indeed the Catholic faith is no guarantee of salvation unless it is practiced. And even among those who attend Mass on Sundays, how many of them are in a state of sanctifying grace?

If you knew the Catholic faith you surely would never have fallen for such a hopeless venue as atheism. So you are going to go the the grave just because everything seemed so impossible then and now? So you would have laughed in the face of God...what does that make you? Have you not read that laughter shall be mingled with tears?

If you grew up in the Novus Ordo Church, then you might have some excuse, however flimsy, as to why you lost the faith. But I attend the traditional Catholic Mass and sacraments and even among those ranks people have not persevered in the true Catholic faith. Many people are just like the ground that the seeds fell upon in the parable of the sower. Either the devil comes and takes away their faith, or they lose it once some temptations come their way or they are caught up by the cares and pleasures of this world--material atheists--and end up neglecting the pracitice of their faith.

You need to think long and hard as to your last end on this earth. You need to read the true teachings of the Church prior to 1958, you need to read the lives of the saints, the history of the Church. Divine grace is a real power that was not just given to the Apostles during Pentecost. However if you don't ask for it you will not receive it and therefore you will never overcome your apostasy. Or are you afraid that God might answer your prayers and then make you obligated to do His will...as Jonas was obligated to do it in the City of Nineveh.
It's a myth about a magic mushroom and the sun... The bible is mostly ancient metaphors about astrotheology and shamanism. It was obviously a pretty popular shroom.
