Well, of course it is a scam!

First of all, why in the world would a complete stranger want to send you a check for reasons unknown to you, that you are certainly not expecting.

Second, disregarding that fact, any legitimate business that would send you anything, will never ask you to pay a charge or fee of any kind.

There are many other reasons that this screams fake, but FYI, any mention of Nigeria it the biggest tip-off of all for a scam! Now, back to you, why are you opening mail from people you do not know? Opening spam mail alerts the sender that your address is a valid one and they send you loads and loads more.

When an E-mail offer sounds too good to be true, then it is definitely not true.

It is a scam to get your personal information and/or money.

Do not respond to it.

Report it, forward it to the FTC at spam@uce.gov and to the abuse desk of the sender's ISP.

For yahoo, report them here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ya鈥?/a>

Choose Fraud as the reason for the violation you're reporting on.

Also, if the E-mail appears to be impersonating a bank or other company or organization, forward the message to the actual organization.

And for your E-mail safety, remember:

Do not ever open E-mail from people you do not know; and unless you are absolutely sure who it is from then treat them as spam.

Never, ever give out your personal information to anyone, for any reason, whether by E-mail, snail mail, phone call, or at your front door.

And do not ever send money, checks or money orders to; or cash checks, money orders for any one - ever.
LOL! Typical Nigerian scam, I can't believe people still fall for this. You send them 210$ they send you nothing, easy money for them. How would you know if a email is a scam?a woman sent me an email saying she sent me money through a courier?
Anything that asks you to send money is a scam. Do not do it.
Just think about it: why would anyone send you $800,000 but make it subject to your paying $210 in fees to get it? It makes no sense.

The turn-of-the-last-century con man known as "The Yellow Kid" once remarked that every single person he ever conned was looking to get something for nothing or to cheat someone else. How would you know if a email is a scam?a woman sent me an email saying she sent me money through a courier?
So you opened an email that says" Greetings to you my Dear Friend?" Do you know this person? Did you ask her to send you email? Do you always open junk that comes from people you don't know? That's the definition of spam: email from people you don't know."

Duuh. Let me correspond with you since you seem to be a believer in this. I have some riverfront property in the Little Sahara in western Oklahoma for sale that you might be interested in. LOL
Right ground rules, guide lines call it what you will.

If you don't know person don't trust!

If they ask for money don't trust!

If they ask for "Any!" details don't trust!

If it seems too good to be true, eg. You have won or there is this great free gift or deal for you. "Don't!" trust, especially if the offer or prize is something you haven't had to do anything for to start with.
