What happens to my email account when I die?

As far as I know there is no service to inform my contacts when I snuff it. I've sent seasons greetings to 3 people who aren't around anymore -- maybe more, I have no way of knowing. It sounds crazy but has any thought been given to developing an IT system that could have a fair idea when somebody is never going to answer emails. Under old postal systems, there was a chance letters would eventually be returned marked 'not known at this address' or similar. The internet is young, but not all its users are young. A system wouldn't make departure any easier, but it might help some survivors. Not knowing can be painful. On a pragmatic basis, it would free up a lot of names and passwords and reduce traffic. What happens to my email account when I die?
After four months of not logging into the email,it will have been deleted by Yahoo.

Whether someone is alive or passed away.

Hope that helps. What happens to my email account when I die?
After a certain amount of time whether you're dead or alive, not logging in will make you're account inactive. I know, its happened to me before. I had to answer security questions up the wazooo just to get it up and running again. What happens to my email account when I die?
If you are not using it after three or four months, then Yahoo! will automatically deletes it.
