How long should it take the us postal serivce to show you your tracking info?

I ordered a camera last night. And woke up today at 10 with email from paypal from 2am saying it was shipped. It gave me the tracking number.

But when I go to http://www.usps.com/ and enter my tracking number.

It says

Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on April 11, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

Should I be concern. If the person supposedly shipped it out 7 hours ago shouldn't ups have the tracking info by now. And can you ship something out at 2am.

Im getting worried. How long should it take the us postal serivce to show you your tracking info?
Usually the tracking info becomes available the day after you take delivery. :-P

But since the notice has information in it for last year I would guess that your tracking number is wrong. See if you can get the sender to verify it. Otherwise relax. It will get there.

EDIT: Thanks for the clarification. Seriously though, the USPS electronic tracking system stinks. I don't even opt for it anymore. Last time the clerk offered it to me I said I didn't want it because it doesn't work. She just smiled.

So don't count on it being updated in a timely fashion.
