How do you know if your EMAIL ACCOUNT has been HIGHJACKED?

I logged into my ymail account yesterday %26amp; noticed messages from postal service, %26amp; something about Delivery Daemon or something 2 that effect in my inbox, A LOT OF THEM! Then I went to my sent messages and there was about 50 messages that were sent from my account with no subject line in them and all that was in each one of them was an internet link. Ive never had this happen to me and I haven't sent mail from that account in a long time, nor have I followed any links from that account. I just get mail in that one. None of my other email accounts have this in them. Even my other accounts from att.net and yahoo. Just that one and my gmail nor my live accounts have this in them. And all of the emails that were sent were sent to my contact from another email account because I dont have all those contacts saved in my ymail account. What is happening here and how did this happen. I dont know but by the looks of this it cant be good. And won't I get in trouble for this especially if my contacts open these messages or follow these links and they are infected? How do I resolve this issue? Do I need to let someone in higher authority know what is happening? Please help me!!!! If you have any suggestions please send them to my email address dukesgirl1974@gmail.com so that I can make sure that nothing else happens from yahoo until I can figure out what is happening and why. Thank you and God Bless You All!How do you know if your EMAIL ACCOUNT has been HIGHJACKED?
This has happened to hundreds of people in the last few months. In the past, you had to click on a link in a "spam" email for them to get into your Contact List. Now they are getting smarter. You only have to open the spam email ..... and they go immediately into your Contact List and send everyone an email promoting some weight-loss product or an "IQ test". Sometimes they are trying to get personal information, sometimes they try to get credit card numbers; others are trying to sell pills.

Usually they only send 1 email to your friends and then they are gone. Ask your friends if they get a 2nd email from the spammers. If they only get one, you are fine. if they get a 2nd one, change your password. That should stop the spammers.

Most of them do not leave a virus on your computer since you did not click on their link. But you can run your anti-virus just to check.
