With the Postal Service running out of money, why haven't I heard word one about layoffs?

I'm sick of this crap. For years people have been using the USPS less and less as they embrace other forms of communication (email, videoconferencing, Fed Ex, UPS, Facebook, you name it). Government keeps throwing more and more money at this monstrosity, yet we hear nothing about laying off the bloated ranks of surly, union postal workers. Why not? The USPS needs less of them, thin the herds like private companies have to do to survive.

why are you so bitter about things you cannot control? the fact is, the postal serive will be laying off hunderds and raising price on stamps soon! there! feel better? pleaase go get a blood pressure check because you will soon have a stroke!

I don't know about layoffs, but I have heard that they might stop Saturday service to cut back.

i have heard about lots of layoffs to our postal service workers. I live in cincinnati, ohio, and the other night on the news they had a story about postal sercives personel being laid off.
