you can pay your bills online, you can email or text with phones.it will be non existent for letters eventuallyDon`t you think eventually the U.S. Postal Service will eventually have to cut down some services?
Or,God forbid, allow them to privatize (at some level) so they can become competitive and stand a chance. That'll will never happen. If the government had mandated that Edison invent the light bulb I'd be typing this under whale oil light.
It wasn't all that long ago that the post office stopped at your local township. You had to go pick it up. We could throw all those mail carriers on the street to compete with the already burgeoning ranks of the unemployed while we pay them severance, medical and pensions.

Eventually, we won't need paper delivery but a lot more than just letters, ads and bills pass through the post office. You can't send a "thing" via email.

Obama's my zero:
If the government hadn't mandated the break up of AT%26amp;T, you'd be typing this on an IBM Correcting Selectric and mailing your answer to us all. The government is good and bad, not all bad as the Nilistic Trinity says.

"non existent for letters eventually"

true, but i work for mailing company in the uk and the situation is much the same here, but what is on the rise parcels/packets with everyone ordering stuff online. so whereas traditional letters to your granny and bills etc are in total freefall, packets and parcels are are huge growth market.
it has been. and it isn't insolvent, it unlike other corporations is funding its retirement obligations and thus the negative balance sheet.Don`t you think eventually the U.S. Postal Service will eventually have to cut down some services?
Yes. They could stop the Saturday delivery. Not everyone has a computer and not all of who do pay bills online.
Yes.
