Has the U.S. Postal Service lost revenue due to email?

Or is it made up for by things like internet shopping and sites like e-bay?Has the U.S. Postal Service lost revenue due to email?
Yes. They had a special about that on cnn not too long ago. %26amp; People pay there bills online these days too so the Postal service is going to continue to lose revenue.
its probably lost some money I'm sure of it but no big deal Santa still gets plenty of mailHas the U.S. Postal Service lost revenue due to email?
nope
yes it has lost money. why do U think they keep raising the price per stamp, to mail by snail-mail? other ways of sending mail, %26amp; sending virtual/ or cyber mail means less volume of snail-mail for them.Has the U.S. Postal Service lost revenue due to email?
They have to be seeing a lower volume of mail with lots of people paying bills on line.
I'm sure eBay more than makes up
Ya think?
its obviously getting lower and lower to some point becasue the price of postage goes UP and UP. Even they are catching on to the online trend though, you can buy postage online. Also you can check the status of your package online if you get a confirmation number. I would imagine with prices rising and such they are probably not at much of a loss.
Business Weeks says..

"That's a problem for the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). In addition to Net-savvy kids, businesses, which account for 95% of the U.S. mail stream, are cutting back on first-class. The trend isn't new -- it began with fax machines and gained speed with the Internet and the success of couriers such as FedEx Corp. But last year the post office passed a worrisome milestone: For the first time, first-class mail shrank in both volume and revenues. The latter fell by $617 million, to $36.4 billion"
Heck no. Did you go to the post office at all recently. There are still LONG LINES (of people with eBay packages)

Besides, the Post Office never made money off of regular first class mail. They make the money on pre-sorted JUNK mail. Major banks send out billions of dollars worth of junk to get you to get another Credit Card.

The mail man does not go to your door with your precious hand written letters for nothing.... you get the JUNK that pays the freight.

So remember to say THANKS, as you drop that junk into the nearest trash can.
Im sure they have...there are so many ways of sending mail now..
Thats why the keep upping the prices on stamps.

Even though USPS might have lost revenue, whenever I go to the postal office, its friggin PACKED. I think they are glad that its not as full as it used to be cuz even now its pretty busy.

If anything they make the same or more since now you can do anything with the USPS online. They are contributing to making online postages.

As some services are down, other services go up. I think they are still safe for now. This is for 11/2005 so I guess we'll see at the end of this year how well they do.
I guess they have, 'cuz they are all soooooo nice in the Post office now....they even say hello.....
