There are fewer letters written, not that most people write letters anyway, but the Internet has been a boon for the USPS. Think of how many packages have been sent because of Ebay, Amazon, Newegg, and thousands of other online merchants.How much has email and text messaging diminished letter writing and the revenues of the US postal service?

A significant amount, but I would venture to say with Internet shopping sites, especially E-bay and others their revenues for parcels has increased, so it may be an offset.How much has email and text messaging diminished letter writing and the revenues of the US postal service?
My neighbor works for the Post Office. He was saying this week that if it weren't for the junk mail that everyone hates, the Post Office would have to shut down.
google stamp prices in 1996 as opposed to the whopping 42 mother effing cents it takes now to send a letter.
