I'm all for this idea. The most important mail we get through the carriers are bills. Businesses are closed on weekends (thus do not send out or receive mail), so having no delivery on Saturdays is not going to affect our bills. The other most important mail we get is invitations for family evens, etc, %26amp; it won't hurt anyone to receive them 1 day late. I say if it saves money %26amp; it's not absolutely necessary, than lets cut back %26amp; end Saturday deliveries.
Also, it seems like the post office raises their prices/stamps almost every year - that's a dumb move. With free online bill pay %26amp; email, etc, people are using that as their main delivery service to save money. The more the post office raises their prices, the more people will pay/send more bills/invitations will be sent via the web. I'm sure that's what caused them to raise their prices in the first place, but the more they raise the prices, the more they'll lose customers, not save money.Postal Service stopping Saturday delivery?
You are 100% correct. They realize this also. That is why they want to do away with saturdays. If they get their way, you will see it happen some time next year.
