Internet and Email/Instant Messaging vs U.S. Postal Service?

It is difficult to send tangible items (such as a toaster, clothing, etc.) through E-mail or instant messaging.Internet and Email/Instant Messaging vs U.S. Postal Service?
Email is way better than the postal service for something but personal stuff its better to use U.S. postal service. But its faster to use email.I think that email and instant messaging would win because its faster. but also postalis good for sending big thing like presents.
